Javanese Surili (Presbytis comata) is a type of primate endemic to Java which has been included in the list of protected animals since April 5 1979 based on Minister of Agriculture Decree No. 247/Kpts/Um/1979 and based on Law no. 5 of 1990 and contained in the attachment to PP No. 7 of 1999. The surili population in nature currently only has around 6,000 individuals scattered across several conservation and protected forest areas in West Java and a small number in protected forest areas in Central Java. Apart from that, Surili has been included in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) list as a Vulnerable/Vulnerable animal whose population in nature has decreased due to hunting for the trade as a pet animal and its habitat is still threatened due to encroachment and changes in the function of natural forests. PT Pertamina EP Zone 7 Tambun Field in collaboration with the Bandung Nature Conservation Foundation (YKAB) and the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BBKSDA) initiated a biodiversity and rare animal conservation program in the Mount Burangrang Nature Reserve as an effort to restore and strengthen the population and maintain the Surili population. remaining in the area.  After the Habituation Primate Cage for Nature and Community program or harmony cage and reintroduction activities, the number of surilis has increased to 54 from previously 52. Through this program, it is hoped that it will not only rebuild a stable and sustainable Surili population in the Mount Burangrang Nature Reserve area but also have additional benefits such as increasing public awareness of primate and wild animal conservation so that in the future the community is expected to contribute directly to the protection and conservation of biodiversity at CAGB.
