Community Development Program

1. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Empowerment

PHE Subholding Upstream empowers SMEs to collaborate with local governments, partner institutions, and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen and independent small businesses and create a chain effect for improving people's welfare. By the end of 2021, over 660 assisted SMEs productive, were located throughout the PHE Subholding Upstream WK, including those located in remote areas. We provide equal opportunities for empowerment and independence for all SMEs, including those led by women's groups and indigenous peoples.

2. Flagship Programs

There are 9 flaghsip programs in the environment at Subholding Upstream that won the Gold PROPER award, including:

  • The Desa Cinta Bumi Tanggap Api Program in Mendis Village, Musi Banyuasin demonstrates PHE Jambi Merang's concern for the environment and society, particularly when it comes to forest and land fire management (karhutla). Green belts and covered an area of 8,000 hectares with fire-resistant vegetation and SROI Result: 1:7,41
  • Childhood Education Program (PELITA), Based on Office of Education, Youth, and Sports Decree No. 420/2514/Disdikpora, the Thematic Waste Management Curriculum has been adapted for local content at the PAUD level in Karawang and implemented more than 1,593 PAUD in Karawang Regency and SROI Result 1:7,89.
  • The Nelayanku Hebat program is implemented in the coastal areas of the Mahakam Delta in Muara Pantuan Village, and Sepatin, Anggana District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan. In the form of implementing environmentally friendly fish apartment innovations and EBT for 170 fishermen, saving >32 ha of mangrove area and 26% of fishermen being free from middlemen. SROI Result 1:18,64.
  • Program Tani Terpadu Sistem Inovasi Sosial Kelompok Setaria (TANTE SISKA) in Sarijaya Village, Sanga Sanga District, Kutai Kartanegara. This is a social entrepreneur development activity focused on integrated agriculture. with a circular economy scheme with the innovation of a burnt husk smoke distillation device, which reduces emissions of 7.76 tons CO2eq/year. SROI Result 1:15,96.
  • Tarakan Disability Batik House (Kubedistik) Program, in the form of empowering 22 people with disabilities in Tarakan in environmentally friendly batik activities: 3 typical Tarakan motifs and 3 other motifs getting IPR. SROI Result 1:2.48

3. Community Empowerment of Indigenous Communities

The WK Rokan operating area is located near the households of indigenous people, specifically the Sakai Tribe. Another way we support the Sakai Tribe is by establishing an Integrated Agriculture Program in Tengganau Pinggir Village, Bengkalis. Meanwhile, the PHR established a Stunting Prevention Program to promote sustainable welfare improvements for the Local Indigenous People of the WK Rokan, who are still classified as the Sakai Tribe. Additionally, the PHR assisted the Sakai Tribe in the Bengkalis and Siak Regencies in improving the quality of human resources and developing a productive workforce through the provision of 75 scholarships and a business incubator for 20 Sakai students.

The Jambi Merang PHE is located in the Ring 2 area of the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) residence, whose territory has limited access. The Jambi Merang Block provided development programs to 17 heads of families (KK) or 79 residents of the SAD minority indigenous community. They were invited to develop agriculture and manage the environment. Additionally, the PHE Jambi Merang provides legal services to the SAD community, making it easier for children to continue their education in formal schools. There are eight SAD children could continue their education in formal schools. Furthermore, the PHE Jambi Merang provides communal solar cells as a source of new renewable energy for SAD in remote areas.
