PT Pertamina Hulu East Kalimantan Northern Operation Area (PHKT DOBU) has established conservation areas in several locations, namely at the Santan Terminal, Kersik Beach Mangrove, and Sebuntal Canal. PHKT DOBU has several conservation programs, namely the Limited Area Initiative Program for Plants (IATT) through the establishment of conservation areas, Preservation of Various Endemic Animals (PAHE) through education and public awareness efforts, Endemic Bird Apartment Innovation Program (PATEN) for Javan Wren and Buffalo Crested species, Speedball Innovation Program to reforest critical land and Mangrove Conservation Program to Prevent Beach Abrasion in Kersik and the Sebuntal Canal. The innovation program that will be launched in 2023 is the Natural Uproot Type Plant Removal Tool Program (ALPACA).
