PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Sangasanga Field is located in Sangasanga Dalam Village, Sangasanga District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. Geographically, Kutai Kartanegara Regency is located between 115°26'–117°36' East Longitude and between 1°28' North Latitude–1°08' South Latitude with an area of 27,263.10 km². The land of Kutai Kartanegara Regency consists of clusters of mountains and mountains. Kutai Kartanegara Regency has a tropical climate with two seasons, namely, the rainy and dry seasons. The location of PEP Sangasanga Field is around the Mahakam Delta. The surrounding river area is a brackish water swamp forest ecosystem type influenced by sea tides, so it is considered relatively healthy as a habitat for various animals, including the proboscis monkey.
