HYDROPONIC MELON CULTIVATION

PT Pertamina Asset 4 Sukowati Field has an initiative for environmental management and preserving local plants as an effort to monitor biodiversity in order to maintain its sustainability. PT Pertamina EP Asset 4 Sukowati Field plans to increase biodiversity status through reforestation with the target of expanding the conservation area by 4,4 ha. Melon (Cucumis Melo L) is a fruit plant in the family of Cucurbitaceae. Melon plants have fast growth and easy to maintain. The planting technique used is hydroponic, hydroponic is one example of an environmentally friendly growing technique. From this initiative, PT Pertamina EP Asset 4 Sukowati Field created a hydroponic melon cultivation program as a form to support the achievement of increased biodiversity status. This program is one of the activities to increase the production of quality melons in Rahayu Village, Tuban District. The program started in 2023 with 2000 trees. The expected target of this program is to increase the number of melon plants by 2000 trees/year in Rahayu Village, Tuban District. To improve national food security, hydroponic farming innovations are developed to increase the production of agricultural commodities.
