PEP Prabumulih Field Surpasses Oil and Gas Production Targets by 124%, Supporting National Energy Resilience

PEP Prabumulih Field Surpasses Oil and Gas Production Targets by 124%, Supporting National Energy Resilience

Prabumulih -- PT Pertamina EP (PEP) recorded an outstanding performance at its Prabumulih Field by exceeding its oil and gas production targets by 124.9 percent by the end of 2025. Year to date (YTD) oil production reached 11,024 barrels of oil per day (BOPD), significantly surpassing the 2025 target of 8,347 BOPD.

Gas production at the Prabumulih Field amounted to 118.89 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD), equivalent to 102.8 percent of the established target of 114.5233 MMSCFD. In line with its operational excellence initiatives, PEP Prabumulih Field successfully reduced production costs to US$8 per barrel of oil equivalent (BOE), representing an 11.11 percent decrease compared to US$9 per BOE in 2024.

During the same period, PEP Prabumulih Field generated revenue of US$366 million, marking the highest revenue achievement to date. This accomplishment also received recognition at the PEP Production Summit 2025.

Senior Manager of PEP Prabumulih Field, Muhammad Luthfi Ferdiansyah, stated that the significant increase in oil production was driven by strong collaboration and disciplined execution across the organization. “Oil production at PEP Prabumulih Field increased from approximately 8,000 BOPD in 2024 to more than 10,000 BOPD in 2025. This achievement reflects solid teamwork, effective cross-functional collaboration within the Prabumulih team and Zone 4, and strong support from all stakeholders,” he said.

He further explained that the Gunung Kemala Cluster continues to serve as the primary contributor to production growth at PEP Prabumulih Field. In addition, development discoveries in the LKT area have further enhanced overall field production. Key initiatives, including the management of natural decline in existing wells and continuous production optimization, remain critical to sustaining performance.

Prior to the development phase in 2023, the Gunung Kemala Cluster comprised only three wells, with production of approximately 50 BOPD in 2022. Following new discoveries in the Gunung Kemala structure, the Company implemented comprehensive production facility preparations and debottlenecking projects to support increased output.

Since the commencement of development activities, PEP Zone 4 has applied the High-Resolution Compartment Identification and New Stratigraphic Concept methodology to further optimize the cluster. As of 2025, the Gunung Kemala Cluster has achieved an average oil production capacity of approximately 2,400 BOPD.

These operational achievements were accompanied by a zero workplace accident record, underscoring the Company’s unwavering commitment to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) excellence.

PEP Prabumulih Field also continues to promote innovation to sustain long-term production performance. These initiatives were recognized through the Best Innovation and Best Lifting Oil awards at the PEP Regional 1 Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) forum.

Looking ahead, PEP Prabumulih Field remains committed to increasing oil and gas production in support of national energy security. For 2026, the Company has set higher production targets of 10,500 BOPD for oil and 105 MMSCDD for gas. “Above all, safety remains our top priority, as no achievement has value without strong safety performance,” Luthfi concluded.
