Pertamina EP Prabumulih's LPG Production Increases by 33% to Support National Demand

Prabumulih - PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Prabumulih Field has successfully produced 60 metric tons of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) per day, marking a 33% increase from December 2024, when production was at 41 metric tons per day. If this level of output is maintained, it is projected that PEP Prabumulih Field will be able to produce 21,900 metric tons of LPG annually by the end of 2025. This would help meet domestic energy needs and reduce LPG imports.
PEP Prabumulih Field is part of Pertamina’s Upstream Subholding for Sumatra Regional Zone 4 and operates under the supervision of SKK Migas South Sumatra (Sumbagsel) Region.
Bambang Dwi Djanuarto, Head of Operations Department at SKK Migas Sumbagsel Region, expressed strong appreciation for the hard work and collaborative efforts of Pertamina Hulu Rokan Regional 1 Zone 4, particularly the PEP Prabumulih Field team and their multi-stakeholder partners.
“This increase in LPG production is an outstanding achievement. It aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision for energy self-sufficiency. With this additional LPG output, we are able to reduce LPG imports and help maintain national energy security. We greatly appreciate Pertamina EP’s hard work. This success is a shared success,” said Bambang.
Senior Manager of Prabumulih Field, Muhammad Luthfi Ferdiansyah, stated that the efforts to increase production included optimizing output at wells BRG-40 and BRG-41, implementing a pressure-lowering stream project, and changing the gas operation pattern in the Karangan structure.
In addition, there are initiatives to modify the gas distribution lines, which are expected to further increase LPG production by the end of 2025. This plan requires strong cooperation and support from all parties involved.
