PHE Jambi Merang Concludes 2025 with Successful On-Stream of PPC-01, Exceeding Production Target
Musi Banyuasin -- PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) Jambi Merang, a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), concluded 2025 on a strong note with the successful on-stream of the PPC-01 well at the Padang Pancuran Structure, delivering production above its initial target. The achievement was acknowledged by the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Yuliot Tanjung, during an official visit to PHE Jambi Merang’s operating area on December 30, 2025.
The PPC-01 exploration well, located in the Padang Pancuran Structure, Bayung Lencir District, Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, represents a strategic discovery for PHE Jambi Merang. Following the approval of Put on Production (POP) and Determination of Exploration Status (PSE) from SKK Migas in March 2025, the well was initially targeted to produce 400 barrels of oil per day (BOPD). As of December 26, 2025, PPC-01 recorded actual production of 451.42 BOPD, exceeding expectations.
The Deputy Minister of ESDM commended the collective efforts of all stakeholders involved. He noted that the achievement contributes to strengthening Indonesia’s energy security and reducing reliance on crude oil imports.
Head of SKK Migas, Djoko Siswanto, emphasized that SKK Migas continues to promote the acceleration of national oil and gas production through rigorous oversight and technical support to contractors, adding that the success of PPC-01 demonstrates the value of strong collaboration.
President Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, Awang Lazuardi, reaffirmed PHE’s commitment to supporting national production growth in 2026 through the accelerated delivery of multiple on-stream projects across key working areas, including PHM, ONWJ, PHR Rokan, and Astrea. He highlighted PHE’s dual exploration strategy, focusing on near-field exploration around existing facilities and frontier exploration, with PPC-01 serving as a successful near-field exploration case.
PHE also reiterated its unwavering commitment to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) excellence across all upstream operations, underscoring that safety remains the company’s top priority.
Looking ahead, the Padang Pancuran Structure is expected to be further developed in a sustainable manner, contributing to increased national oil lifting and supporting Indonesia’s long-term energy resilience.
