Pertamina Hulu Energi Engages University Students as National Energy Resilience Ambassadors Through PHE Youth Program: Upstream Force 2025

Jakarta - PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s national energy resilience by engaging the younger generation through the Grand Final and Awarding Ceremony of Upstream Force 2025, held on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, at Studio 8, SCTV Tower, Jakarta.

The event marked the culmination of the Pertamina Hulu Energi Youth Program: Upstream Force, which had previously been implemented at four leading universities in the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area. As PHE’s inaugural youth engagement initiative, the program encourages university students to actively participate in raising awareness of energy issues and the upstream oil and gas industry through a structured Instagram-based content creation competition.

The Director of Human Resources and Business Support of PHE, Eri Sulistyo Sutikno, highlighted the strategic importance of the upstream oil and gas sector as the foundation of Indonesia’s energy value chain and a key contributor to national energy self-sufficiency. In this context, he emphasized the critical role of young talent in addressing future energy challenges.

“The Upstream Force program goes beyond competition. It serves as a platform for learning, collaboration, and talent development. Through this initiative, we aim to foster a deeper understanding among young generations that the upstream oil and gas sector is fundamental to national energy resilience, and that they play a strategic role in driving sustainable change,” Eri stated in his keynote address.

Following a comprehensive selection process, including a Youth Camp and final presentations, four finalist teams from Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Pertamina, Universitas Trisakti, and IPB University advanced to the Grand Final. The finalists presented innovative concepts demonstrating strong analytical perspectives, creativity, and actionable insights related to energy sustainability and the upstream oil and gas sector.

“Young generations are not only future leaders but also critical contributors to Indonesia’s energy ecosystem. Their perspectives and innovations are essential to ensuring the long-term sustainability and independence of national energy,” Eri added.

During the awarding ceremony, PHE recognized the top-performing teams with total prizes amounting to tens of millions of rupiah. The first-place winner received IDR 15 million, followed by IDR 10 million for second place, IDR 5 million for third place, and IDR 3.5 million for the Honorable Mention award, along with plaques and certificates.

PHE expects the Pertamina Hulu Energi Youth Program: Upstream Force to serve as a sustainable platform for nurturing young talent, encouraging continuous learning, innovation, and meaningful contributions toward strengthening Indonesia’s national energy resilience.

PHE remains committed to responsible and sustainable upstream oil and gas operations by consistently applying Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. In addition, PHE upholds a Zero Tolerance on Bribery policy by implementing robust fraud prevention measures and maintaining a strong culture of integrity, including the application of an Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) in accordance with ISO 37001:2016.
