Pertamina EP Field Tambun Supports Preservation of Betawi Cultural Arts in Bekasi Through the "KANG BEKASI" Program

Bekasi - PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Regional Java Subholding Upstream Pertamina, supports the preservation of Betawi culture by providing art equipment as supporting facilities to the Padepokan Sima Maung in Kedung Jaya Village, Babelan District, Bekasi. The artistic support provided is part of the Betawi Cultural Village Empowerment Program (Kang Bekasi) initiated by PEP Tambun Field.

This program aims to revive local culture that has faded due to modernization, starting in 2021 in collaboration with Padepokan Sima Maung located in Kedung Jaya Village, Babelan District, Bekasi Regency, and has nurtured 120 students at no cost. The Betawi cultural arts preserved by Padepokan Sima Maung include martial arts, gate pole, traditional dance, and ibing pencug (silat movements accompanied by jaipong).

The Kang Bekasi Program takes the form of supporting art equipment facilities and registering the copyrights of several artworks produced. This program is in line with Sustainable Development Goal No. 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities.

"This program is a form of the company's commitment to preserve local wisdom and local culture around the operational areas, especially in Babelan District, Bekasi Regency. Through this equipment support, it is hoped that it can increase the motivation of students to develop and be creative in preserving arts and culture, especially Betawi culture," said Wazirul Luthfi, Head of Communication, Relations & CID Zona 7, on Thursday (01/02).

"On behalf of Padepokan Sima Maung and the Kedung Jaya Village community, we are very grateful to Pertamina EP Field Tambun for their concern and contribution to preserving Betawi culture, especially for the Babelan community. for the assistance that has been provided so far," emphasized Lukman, Chairman of Padepokan Sima Maung.

In addition to nurturing the interest of local arts and culture among children and teenagers, this program also contributes to preserving the originality of original works of the nation's children by registering the copyrights of 20 creations made by Padepokan Sima Maung.
