Pertamina EP Adera Field Discovers New Well with Oil Flow Potential of 3,442 BOPD

Pertamina EP Adera Field Discovers New Well with Oil Flow Potential of 3,442 BOPD

Prabumulih -- PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Adera Field has discovered a new oil well with a flow potential of up to 3,442 barrels of oil per day (BOPD). A two-hour flow test conducted on December 30, 2025, between 14:30 and 16:30 WIB, confirmed that well ABB-143 (U1) is capable of producing 3,442 BOPD under natural flow conditions. The test duration was designed to provide a more representative indication of stable well performance.

The initial flow test was undertaken to assess the well’s maximum deliverability, specifically its capability to produce oil without the use of artificial lift systems. The test results do not represent long-term production rates, but serve as an initial evaluation of well productivity and reservoir characteristics.

Following completion of the well clean-up phase, PEP Adera Field proceeded with a multi-rate flow test to determine the optimal production rate, gas-oil ratio (GOR), and watercut. The resulting data will form the basis for effective reservoir management, supporting sustainable production and optimal hydrocarbon recovery.

“Well ABB-143 (U1) is expected to contribute incremental production of approximately 458 barrels of oil per day under specific operating conditions. Based on analog analysis with reference wells, the Estimated Ultimate Recovery (EUR) is projected at approximately 750 thousand barrels of oil,” said Djudjuwanto, General Manager of Pertamina EP Zone 4.

Reference wells are established producers within the same area and geological formation, and are used as benchmarks to estimate the production potential of newly discovered wells.

According to Djudjuwanto, the discovery was enabled through the integration of 3D Abab seismic data acquired in 2023, supported by subsurface studies conducted by the Geology, Geophysics, Reservoir, and Production (GGRP) team of PEP Adera Field. Enhanced seismic interpretation allowed for more accurate delineation of reservoir distribution and orientation, thereby increasing drilling success rates.

The discovery is expected to strengthen PEP Adera Field’s production outlook in 2026 and contribute to the national oil lifting target of 1 million barrels per day. “Continuous technological innovation and the application of advanced subsurface approaches are key drivers of Pertamina EP’s performance in supporting Indonesia’s long-term energy security,” Djudjuwanto concluded.
