Pertamina Drilling and ExxonMobil Cepu Limited Commence First Drilling of Banyu Urip Infill Clastic

Bojonegoro - PT Pertamina Drilling Services Indonesia (Pertamina Drilling), a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) as the Pertamina's Upstream Subholding, together with ExxonMobil Cepu Limited (EMCL), held the inauguration of the first drilling of the Banyu Urip Infill Clastic Well. The event took place in Bojonegoro on Friday, 1st March.
This drilling marks the initial step following Pertamina Drilling's renewed trust by ExxonMobil to develop the Banyu Urip field. The contract was signed in Jakarta on 10th August 2023.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arifin Tasrif, Head of SKK Migas Dwi Sucipto, Deputy CEO of PT Pertamina (Persero) Wiko Migantoro, President of ExxonMobil Cepu Limited Carole Gall, CEO of PHE Chalid Said Salim, CEO of Pertamina Drilling Avep Disasmita, Chairman of BKS PI Blok Cepu Suko Hartono, and Acting Regent of Bojonegoro Andrianto.
Avep Disasmita, CEO of Pertamina Drilling, emphasized the importance of safety in field operations. "Pertamina Drilling's safety culture has reached a proactive level, meaning we are highly committed to field safety and consider it more important than the profits gained," Avep stated. Ensuring safety in the field also represents mutual trust between the companies involved, which is crucial for the project's success.
Following the success of previous collaborations, Pertamina Drilling will continue using PDSI  Rig#40.3/DS1500-E, a Cyber Electric Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) System rig with a capacity of 1500 HP. This rig boasts features such as Fast Walking/Skidding, Compact Rig, and Batch Drilling capabilities. It successfully conducted Batch Drilling for ExxonMobil Cepu Limited at Banyu Urip between 2013 and 2015, achieving 0 LTA and downtime below 2%. The rig was awarded the Nominated Best Rig in ExxonMobil Rig Drilling Worldwide (President Award).
