PEP Prabumulih Field Records Increase in Oil and Gas Production Through Well GNK-099

Prabumulih, February 5, 2024 - PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Prabumulih Field, which is part of Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) Regional Sumatera Zona 4 Subholding Upstream Pertamina, under the coordination and supervision of SKK Migas South Sumatera Representative (Sumbagsel), successfully recorded an increase in production through the development of Gunung Kemala (GNK) Structure in Gunung Kemala Village, West Prabumulih District, Prabumulih City, South Sumatera.

Well GNK-099 exceeded the production target by recording a production test of 2,473 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) without water cut at a 15 mm choke. This achievement is also initiated by the success of the two previous wells, which also achieved production figures above 1,000 barrels of oil per day (BOPD).

Updated 3D Chrysant data and a new subsurface concept approach with High Resolution Fault Identification trap innovation as well as a combination of Upper Talang Akar Formation Stratigraphic Play in the Gunung Kemala structure, which is reflected in the Final Investment Decision (FID) provided by Subholding Upstream Pertamina to drill 4 wells as proof of infill in new compartment areas. This achievement is certainly based on the creativity and innovation of the PHR Regional Sumatera Zona 4 team in analyzing and evaluating the subsurface.

This certainly opens up opportunities and enthusiasm to achieve national production targets for developing Idle Structures. The success of Well GNK-099 not only reflects extraordinary technical achievements but also the result of strong commitment from all stakeholders towards energy resource development in Indonesia.

Zona 4 General Manager, Djujuwanto, stated that this well is part of our commitment to SKK Migas and Subholding Upstream Pertamina for drilling new concept proofs with 4 wells in Gunung Kemala in 2023 and 2024. "Alhamdulillah with the permission of Allah SWT, these 4 wells have produced remarkable results. In the future, we will commit to carrying out 10 advanced drilling wells to fulfill POD and FID commitments," said Djujuwanto.

PHR Regional Sumatera Zona 4 faces various challenges, especially in terms of subsurface existing structures, which are currently mature and depleted reservoir structures. To address these challenges, the Zona 4 subsurface team prioritizes extensification strategies as a step to obtain new reserves to increase drilling aggressiveness in existing structures. The extensification strategy includes proving up in step-out areas, interfield/nearby field areas, and deep/shallow zones that have been identified and thoroughly evaluated, to then be developed massively.

In this regard, local governments and stakeholders in the oil and gas industry welcome this news. Considering the positive impact on the regional and national economy. The development of domestic energy resources not only ensures sustainable energy supply but also has the potential to create economic opportunities and jobs in the region.

PHR Regional Sumatera Zona 4 is committed to contributing maximally to achieving the target of 1 million BOPD and 12 BSCFD by 2030 as mandated by SKK Migas in 2030. This requires extraordinary enthusiasm, which is pursued through massive, aggressive, and precise drilling as a step to pursue production increases.
