PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Group Wins Three International Awards at the SME CSR Awards Asia 2024

Jakarta – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), through its subsidiaries PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) Northern Operational Area (DOBU), PHKT Southern Operational Area (DOBS), and PT Pertamina (EP) Bunyu Field, received three international awards at The Small-Medium Enterprise Corporate Social Responsibility Award (The SME CSR Awards) Asia 2024. This event was organized in collaboration with La Tofi School of Social Responsibility and Portman Education Group, Malaysia.
The awards were presented in Jakarta on Monday, April 1, by La Tofi, Chairman of La Tofi School of Social Responsibility and Head of the Jury, and Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, Spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to Dony Indrawan, Manager of Communication Relations & CID at PHI, and Andry Sehang, Senior Manager at PT Pertamina EP Bunyu Field.
In his speech, Lalu Muhammad Iqbal highlighted the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA), which has been in effect since 2015. He noted that the economic stability of ASEAN countries is significantly supported by small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
"Small and medium enterprises are the backbone of ASEAN's economy, as 95% of companies in ASEAN countries fall under this category. SMEs also help increase employment and contribute significantly to exports," Iqbal added.
Dony Indrawan expressed the company's delight in receiving the awards, acknowledging the recognition of PHI's commitment to supporting community development, particularly SMEs.
"PHI and its subsidiaries and affiliates are committed to implementing corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs that support community development and independence, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In practice, we apply social and environmental innovations in our CSR programs to create significant and sustainable impacts for the community, including in SME development," Dony explained while receiving the award.
Dony further elaborated that the innovative CSR programs implemented by PHKT and PEP Bunyu Field reflect the company's commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. "We believe that the success of our CSR programs is the result of collaboration between the company and all stakeholders, especially the community and the government," Dony emphasized.
Each of the three PHI subsidiaries received an award in the following categories: (1) SME Development for Farmers/Fishermen Group with the Luwak Coffee Farmer Group Program in Prangat Baru Village; (2) SME Development for Women Group with the Smart and Food-Aware Mushroom Planting Program (SEMUR CENDAWAN); and (3) SME Development for Youth/Student Group with the Youth Empowerment Program: Sinergi Pertamina EP Bunyu Field Developing Karang Taruna Karya Muda to Become Independent Youth. The winners of these awards will have the opportunity to pursue education or certification related to CSR.
