Pertamina Hulu Energi Completes 3D Seismic Survey in Bone & Southeast Seram
Ambon - PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), a subsidiary of Pertamina Upstream, has successfully completed a 3D seismic survey in Eastern Indonesia, covering Bone and Southeast Seram regions by the end of June 2024.
The SE Seram and Bone 3D seismic surveys form part of the PHE Jambi Merang Definitive Work Commitment (KKPJM) and were executed through PHE's subsidiary, PT Elnusa Tbk, in collaboration with China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL).
Muharram Jaya Panguriseng, Director of Exploration at PHE, highlighted the achievement of completing the seismic surveys with zero accidents and meeting all performance metrics (on time, on budget, on schedule, and on return). "The 821 km² Bone survey was completed in 26 days, ahead of the 37-day target, and the 700 km² SE Seram survey was finished in 60 days, beating the 75-day target," he stated.
Muharram praised the outstanding performance of Elnusa and COSL for their efficient collaboration and high-quality data acquisition. This project marks a significant milestone in PHE's New Venture program in Eastern Indonesia, aiming to secure new oil and gas exploration blocks to bolster future national energy security.
Both surveys employed COSL's seismic survey vessel, using the 3D Marine Streamer Broadband seismic acquisition method to achieve precise geometrics of subsurface structures in deep targets, particularly in the resource-rich regions of Bone and Seram.
