Pertamina EP Commences Bambu Merah Field Development to Strengthen Production Capacity

Cikarang -- PT Pertamina EP, in collaboration with the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas), has officially initiated the fabrication phase of the Gas Dehydration Package for the Bambu Merah Field Development Project (BMH), integrated with the North Cilamaya Gathering Station (SP CLU). The milestone was marked by a First Cutting Ceremony held at a fabrication facility in Cikarang, West Java, at the end of 2025, signaling the start of a key stage in the development of upstream production infrastructure in the Subang area.

The steel cutting activity marks the commencement of fabrication for critical equipment, including the Gas Dehydration Unit (DHU) and scrubber, which are designed to enhance gas processing capacity at the Bambu Merah Field. The project is implemented under the Bambu Merah–Cilamaya Selatan Field Development Optimization (OPLL) framework and aligns with the Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) approved by SKK Migas.

The development concept focuses on optimizing existing infrastructure at SP CLU through targeted facility upgrades. Upon completion, oil production will be transported to the Cilamaya Booster Station (BS), while gas production will undergo processing to meet commercial specifications prior to delivery to the Cilamaya Gas Compressor Station (SKG) and integration with output from other fields. Produced water will be managed responsibly through reinjection into designated wells via the Water Injection Plant (WIP) at SP CLU, ensuring compliance with environmental management standards.

The Bambu Merah development is projected to reach peak production of approximately 8 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 300 barrels of liquid per day (BLPD), equivalent to 292.5 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) net. Key facilities under development include an 8 MMSCFD gas scrubber, a 9 MMSCFD Dehydration Unit (DHU), three additional gas compressor units each with a capacity of 0.5 MMSCFD, and supporting infrastructure.

Ahmad Firdaus Fasa, Project Manager of Pertamina EP Zone 7, emphasized that the fabrication phase represents a significant milestone in advancing the project’s execution and supporting production enhancement targets. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering the project with strict adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, supported by close collaboration with SKK Migas, internal teams, and project partners.

Meanwhile, Wazirul Luthfi, Head of Communication, Relations & CID of Pertamina EP Zone 7, highlighted the strategic importance of the project in strengthening national energy security. He noted that the development reflects Pertamina EP Zone 7’s commitment to sustaining reliable energy supply while ensuring compliance with HSSE standards and strong governance practices, supported by continuous coordination and cross-sector collaboration.

Fabrication activities are being executed by PT Bahana Karya Mandiri, with a planned duration of 280 calendar days starting from December 5, 2025. Upon completion of fabrication, the DHU package is scheduled for delivery to SP CLU in mid-September 2026, followed by construction and commissioning activities over a two-month period. The new facilities are targeted to achieve startup/onstream status by November 2026.
